Your Child’s Adjustment

Your Child’s Adjustment

Children react in different ways to new situations. Some children will adjust without any problems, while some children it will take several weeks.

The staff at Growing Footprints is trained to be empathetic to this time of adjustment. Please kiss and hug your child good-bye and reassure him/her that you will be back. Chances are your child will settle down quickly after you leave, and begin playing. Please feel free to call at any time during the day to find out how your child is adjusting.

Clothing and Personal Belongings

  1. Cubbies & Folders

A personal cubby is provided for your child to keep their extra clothing, and shoes. Also bring your child in their very own folder for important papers and the wonderful art and projects.

  1. Clothing

Children’s clothes are very much alike in appearance and size; all clothes should be clearly marked with the child’s full name. We urge you to consider washable and comfortable play clothes which the child can manage themselves. Shoes should also be appropriate for outdoor play.

It is essential to send along a complete change of clothing, including socks, shoes, and underwear, to be left at center. Two changes are needed for two year olds; more if they are potty training.

If your child leave the Center with Growing Footprints extra clothes, please wash and return them to the school as soon as possible.

During the winter months, please dress your child appropriately. Whenever the weather permits, we have outdoor activities for a portion of the day. We feel that it is important for the children to be able to run and develop large muscle coordination.
